Artist Statement
Hi! My name is Christine Kernan Lang. I now reside in Wausau but called Tomahawk my home for 30 years. I’m a recently retired 4K-5th grade art teacher who enjoys hiking, kayaking, bicycling and most importantly creating art.
I received my BFA from UW Oshkosh and my Master’s in art education from Silver Lake College.
My love of art started as a child. I had amazing elementary and high school art teachers who inspired me to go into teaching. I’ve always loved teaching children art because of their open mindedness and ability to express themselves artistically. It is very therapeutic as well as mentally freeing. I believe all children and adults are artists regardless of their skill level and it should be enjoyed by all.
The mediums that I generally use are clay, stained glass and paint but have recently started loving abstract resin art. It is wonderful to create mood, texture and play with color. I hope my work evokes some type of emotional connection.
Currently, some of my stained glass art is being exhibited at the Center for the Visual Arts in Wausau.
Thank you for taking the time to read my bio and viewing my work!
